Dr. Batal is a renal pathologist at Columbia University in New York, the recipient of the 2019 Gloria Gallo Research Award by the Renal Pathology Society, the co-chair of Banff Xenograft Pathology working groups, and a member of several other Banff pathology working groups. Dr. Batal's research focuses on assessing the pathogenesis of glomerular diseases in the kidney allograft. Kidney transplantation offers unique environment to dissect culprit factors from recipients and donors that contribute to the histologic manifestations of glomerular diseases.
