Cardio-Renal Syndromes In Diabetes: Comprehensive Care of Patients with Type 2 Diabetes with Heart & Kidney Disease

Learning Objectives

-Identify the prevalence and pathogenesis of cardiorenal and atherosclerotic cardiovascular complications.

-Discuss current guidelines for optimal management of diabetic patients to prevent and treat cardiorenal and atherosclerotic complications.
Examine the causes of inflammation in atherosclerosis.
Target the mechanism of action and indications/contraindications of GLP1-agonists and SGLT2-inhibitors.

-Examine the modern therapies for Diabetic Kidney disease.
Recognize the importance of multidisciplinary care in the management of heart disease in patients with diabetes, including collaboration between primary care providers, endocrinologists, cardiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
Identify up to date effective treatment options for managing heart disease in patients with diabetes, including pharmacologic interventions such as beta-blockers, ACE inhibitors, mineralocorticoid antagonists, statins, GLP1-agonists and SGLT2 inhibitors.
